Run subscription emails from Klaviyo, next to the rest of your marketing

Connect Klaviyo with a private API key and every subscription moment, from the first order to a cancellation, arrives in Klaviyo as a metric you can start a flow on. Your win-back series, charge reminders and pause notices sit next to the rest of your email marketing, and customers never get the same message twice.

Overview

Curobi's Klaviyo integration sends nine subscription events to a merchant's own Klaviyo account as metrics to build flows on, keeps four subscription fields current on each customer profile for segments, and can hand Curobi's own customer emails to a Klaviyo flow — on every Curobi plan, including Free.

Curobi sends nine metrics, each named with a Curobi prefix so they never mix with another app's: Subscription Started, Subscription Renewed, Upcoming Charge, Payment Failed, Payment Recovered, Subscription Paused, Subscription Cancelled, Subscription Reactivated and Payment Method Updated. Every event carries the products, the amount per charge, the frequency, the next charge date and a link for the customer to manage the subscription, and a cancellation carries the reason the customer gave. The products, amount and date also arrive ready to print, so an email reads right without any filters. The metric names never change, so a flow you build today keeps working.

Four profile fields stay current on each customer for segments: Curobi Active Subscriber, Curobi Active Subscriptions, Curobi Subscription Status and Curobi Next Charge Date. They describe the customer rather than a single subscription, so someone who cancels one of two subscriptions is still an active subscriber and doesn't fall into a lapsed segment by mistake. When you connect, Curobi sends one sample event per metric to a placeholder profile with no email address, so all nine metrics are listed in Klaviyo and ready to pick as flow triggers before any customer does anything.

Curobi already sends its own subscription emails. If a Klaviyo flow sends the same message, you can hand that email to Klaviyo — any of eight, from the confirmation and charge receipt to the pause and cancellation notices — and Curobi stops sending its copy. If Klaviyo is ever disconnected, Curobi goes back to sending those emails itself, so customers are never left with none. The failed-payment email always sends, because it is Shopify's secure card-update email and carries the only link that lets a customer fix their card.

Curobi sends Klaviyo the customer's email address, so each event lands on the profile Klaviyo's own Shopify integration already created, and the subscription details above. It never sends phone numbers, addresses or payment details, never adds anyone to a list or changes their consent, and doesn't keep the email address. It also honours the message types a customer turned off in their email preferences, apart from essential billing events. Klaviyo is on every plan, including Free, and it works on development stores, so an agency can build the flows before a store launches.

What Klaviyo Integration gives you

  • Nine subscription metrics in your own Klaviyo account, from Subscription Started to Payment Method Updated
  • Products, amount, frequency, next charge date and a manage link on every event, ready to print
  • Four profile fields for segments, kept current on each customer
  • Sample events on connect, so every metric can start a flow straight away
  • Hand any of eight Curobi emails to a Klaviyo flow; Curobi takes them back if Klaviyo disconnects
  • A test event, a recent-deliveries log, and a warning if Curobi has to switch the connection off
  • Sends the email address and subscription details only; never phone, address or card data, and never consent changes
  • On every plan, including Free, and on development stores

How to connect Klaviyo to Curobi

  1. Create a private API key in Klaviyo

In Klaviyo, open Settings, then API keys, and create a private key named CUROBI with Accounts set to Read Access and Events set to Full Access. Copy it now: Klaviyo shows it only once.

  2. Connect it in Curobi

Click Integrations in Curobi's top navigation, choose Set up on the Klaviyo card, paste the key and click Connect. Curobi checks the key, stores it encrypted and adds all nine metrics to Klaviyo.

  3. Build a flow on a Curobi metric

In Klaviyo, create a flow with a metric trigger such as Curobi Subscription Cancelled, write the email, and set both the email and the flow to Live.

  4. Test it, then hand the email over

Send a test event from Curobi's Klaviyo page to your own inbox. If the flow replaces one of Curobi's emails, switch that email to Klaviyo under Who emails your customers.

Questions merchants ask

Does Curobi integrate with Klaviyo?

Yes, on every plan, including Free, and on development stores too. Curobi sends nine subscription events to your own Klaviyo account as metrics you can build flows on: subscription started, renewed, paused, cancelled and reactivated, upcoming charge, payment failed, payment recovered, and payment method updated. It also keeps four subscription fields current on each customer's Klaviyo profile for segments, and you can hand Curobi's own customer emails to a Klaviyo flow so customers don't get two. You connect it with a Klaviyo private API key in about five minutes. Curobi sends the customer's email address and the subscription details only — never phone numbers, addresses, or payment details — and never changes anyone's marketing consent.

Which Curobi plan do I need for Klaviyo, Gorgias, Shopify Flow or the API?

Any plan, including Free. Klaviyo, Gorgias, Shopify Flow and the developer API — API keys, subscription changes by API, bulk exports, and the Storefront and Customer APIs for headless stores — are on every Curobi plan, so none of them is a reason to upgrade and none needs the trial. Signed outbound webhooks, which push subscription events to your own ERP, 3PL or warehouse, start at Business. The API, webhooks and Gorgias need a store on a paid Shopify plan and stay off on development stores; Klaviyo and Shopify Flow work on development stores too.
