The problem we exist to fix

Subscriptions are the most valuable revenue a store can earn — a customer who comes back on their own, month after month. Yet most Shopify subscription apps tax exactly that: they take a percentage of every recurring charge on top of a monthly fee. As a store grows, the tool that was meant to help scale quietly takes a bigger cut of the revenue it had the least to do with earning.

Curobi removes that tax entirely. Recurring charges run on Shopify’s own Subscription Contract billing rails, so Curobi is never in the payment flow and has no fee to recover. You pay one flat monthly price and keep 100% of your recurring revenue.

That gap widened in 2026. Recharge’s net-new Starter plan now runs $99/month plus 1.25% + $0.19 per transaction, its Pro tier sits at $499/month, and in April 2026 Recharge acquired Skio — consolidation that leaves merchants paying more and choosing from less. Curobi is the flat-rate answer: $29.99 or $69.99 a month, 0% transaction fees, and a CSV migration off whatever you’re on today, included on the Pro plan.

Built on Shopify’s native subscriptions — with the parts stores outgrow

Shopify’s free native Subscriptions app is a fine place to start a simple recurring plan. Most growing stores outgrow it: no build-your-own or merchant-curated boxes, no bundling, only a basic customer portal, and no failed-payment recovery or cancellation save flows. Curobi runs on the same native Subscription Contracts, so you keep Shopify’s checkout and billing exactly as they are — and adds the box formats, bundles, self-service portal, and churn recovery a real subscription business needs, without layering a per-transaction fee back on top.

Where recurring revenue actually leaks

The revenue most stores lose isn’t won or lost at signup — it leaks after. The biggest churn drivers across subscription commerce are price, product piling up between deliveries, wanting more variety, and failed payments that silently cancel customers who never meant to leave. Curobi is built to close each leak: a portal on every plan where customers skip or reschedule instead of cancel (the single most effective anti-churn lever), and — on the Pro plan — rotating curated and build-your-own boxes that keep variety fresh, save flows that offer a pause at the moment of cancellation, and automatic dunning that retries declined cards and emails customers to update them. Failed payments are the quietest leak of all — across the industry, stores that promote Shop Pay see roughly 14–19% fewer payment-failure cancellations, because the card on file stays current — and Curobi’s dunning is built to reclaim the ones that still slip through.

Who Curobi is for

Curobi is built first for specialty coffee roasters — the clearest home for recurring boxes. Coffee-of-the-month plans, pick-your-roast and build-your-own bags, and merchant-curated sampler boxes that rotate monthly are native features, not workarounds, with a per-item cutoff that locks each box before billing runs.

The same engine works for any store built on the return: beauty and skincare refills, supplements, pet food, food and beverage, and bundle-led catalogs. If a customer should come back on a schedule, Curobi runs it.

How Curobi works

  • Native, not bolted on. Subscriptions are created at Shopify’s checkout and mirrored into Curobi for management — no third-party billing processor, no redirect, no separate checkout.
  • No card data, ever. Because Shopify settles the charges, Curobi never handles or stores payment-card data. It persists only Shopify identifiers and subscription status.
  • Built to not double-charge. The billing core is idempotent by design, so a retried or replayed event never turns into a duplicate charge.
  • Retention built in. A self-service customer portal on every plan, plus cancellation save flows and failed-payment dunning on Pro, keep subscribers — and reclaim revenue that would otherwise lapse.

Built to stay compatible — with your stack and what Shopify ships next

Because Curobi never inserts itself between your store and the buyer, it stays out of the way of everything else. The purchase-option widget renders inside your existing theme, and subscription orders settle as ordinary Shopify orders — so the reviews, loyalty, email and SMS, analytics, and upsell or bundling apps you already run see them like any other order, with no proprietary billing layer to integrate around. That same discipline is what keeps you ready for what’s coming: as Shopify’s agentic checkout and AI shopping agents become a real path to purchase in 2026, a store on Curobi keeps its products, prices, and subscriptions on the native rails those agents can read — rather than a third-party flow they may never see.

What we believe

We are deliberately focused. Curobi does not try to match a decade of feature breadth on day one; it does the core of subscriptions exceptionally well — reliable billing, honest flat pricing, and box formats the established players gate behind $299–$499/month plans. We would rather be the tool a roaster trusts with every recurring charge than a checklist of features that quietly taxes their growth. To go deeper on where we’re headed, read our vision.
