The Shopify subscription app built for coffee roasters.

Coffee is Curobi's core use case. Run coffee-of-the-month, pick-your-roast build-your-own bags, and curated sampler boxes on Shopify's native billing — with a cutoff that locks each box before roast day, 0% transaction fees, and migration from your current app on the Pro plan.

Why coffee subscriptions are their own problem

Coffee is the archetypal subscription product — consumed on a predictable cadence, better fresh, and bought on loyalty to a roaster's taste. But it has quirks generic subscription tools handle badly. Freshness is time-sensitive: a box has to be locked before roast day, not after. Variety matters: subscribers churn when every delivery is identical, so rotation and choice aren't nice-to-haves. And roasters run on thin margins, which is exactly why a tool that skims a percentage of every recurring charge hurts most here.

Curobi is built around those realities: box formats with a real per-item cutoff, native build-your-own and rotating curated boxes for variety, and flat pricing with 0% transaction fees so the margin on every bag stays with the roaster.

What you can run

Coffee of the month

A merchant-curated box that rotates every month — you choose the roast, the customer subscribes to the experience. Ideal for showcasing single-origin rotations and limited lots.

Pick your roast / build your own bags

A build-your-own box where subscribers assemble their own recurring order from your eligible coffees — light to dark, whole bean or ground, one bag or three. A per-item limit and a cutoff lock the selection before billing.

What this means →

Curated sampler boxes

Merchant-assembled sampler flights that rotate on a schedule — a guided tour through your range that keeps discovery fresh cycle after cycle.

What this means →

Prepaid gift subscriptions

A fixed 3- or 6-month coffee term billed upfront — strong for holidays and gifting, and it locks in retention for the paid period.

Built on Shopify's native rails

Every recurring charge runs on Shopify Subscription Contracts and Shopify's own checkout — there's no third-party billing processor, no redirect, and Curobi never touches or stores card data. Your reviews, loyalty, email/SMS, and analytics apps see subscription orders exactly the way they see any other Shopify order. It also keeps your coffee on the same native product and checkout layer Shopify exposes to its agentic- commerce and AI shopping features, instead of behind a proprietary widget those agents may not read.

Setting up a coffee subscription

  1. Create a coffee subscription plan

Set the cadence (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly) and any subscribe-and-save discount, and apply it to your coffee products, specific variants (grind, size), or an entire collection.

  2. Add the purchase-option widget to the product page

The widget renders inside your existing theme so shoppers can buy a bag once or subscribe from the same product page — no separate checkout or redirect.

  3. Set the per-item cutoff for boxes

For build-your-own or curated boxes, set the cutoff so each subscriber's selection is locked before the recurring charge is created and before roast day.

  4. Turn on dunning and the customer portal

Automatic failed-payment recovery and a 24/7 self-service portal (skip, pause, change frequency) are included, so subscribers can manage their own coffee without emailing you.

Keeping coffee subscribers (reducing churn)

The biggest churn drivers in coffee are the same four everywhere: price, product piling up between deliveries, wanting more variety, and failed payments that silently cancel customers who never meant to leave. Curobi counters each: a self-service portal to skip or change frequency so bags never pile up, build-your-own and rotating curated boxes for variety, save flows that offer a pause instead of a cancel, and automatic dunning that retries declined cards. Letting a customer skip instead of cancel is the single most effective lever a subscription program has — see churn for why.

Switching from another app

Moving off a tool that takes a cut of every recurring charge is free: Curobi provides CSV-based migration from Recharge, Appstle, Loop, Bold, or Seal without interrupting active subscriptions. Compare the specifics: vs Recharge, vs Appstle, or vs Loop.

Coffee roaster FAQ

Is there a Shopify subscription app built for coffee roasters?
Yes — coffee is Curobi's core use case. Coffee-of-the-month plans, pick-your-roast and build-your-own bags, and merchant-curated sampler boxes that rotate monthly are native features, not workarounds, with a per-item cutoff that locks the box before billing runs. Paired with 0% transaction fees on every plan and CSV migration from Recharge, Appstle, Loop, Bold, or Seal on the Pro plan, it is built for roasters switching off tools that take a cut of every recurring charge.
How do I reduce coffee subscription churn?
Across subscription commerce the biggest churn drivers are price, product piling up between deliveries, wanting more variety, and failed payments that silently cancel customers who never meant to leave. Curobi is built to counter each one: a self-service portal to skip a delivery or change frequency so boxes never pile up, build-your-own and rotating curated boxes to keep variety fresh, cancellation save flows that offer a pause instead of a cancel, and automatic dunning that retries failed charges and prompts customers to update their card. Letting a customer skip or reschedule instead of cancel is the single most effective lever a subscription program has.
