One-Time Box
Also known as: Single box, Gift box
A one-time box is a box sold as a single purchase rather than a recurring subscription — bought once, shipped once, with no contract and no renewal — typically used for gifting, seasonal editions, and letting a hesitant customer try the box before committing to a subscription.
The same assembly a subscription box uses is often worth selling on its own. Gifts are the clearest case, because the buyer is not the recipient and a recurring charge would be wrong; seasonal and limited editions are the next, because scarcity is the point and a renewal contradicts it. Both sell to people who would never have started a subscription that month.
The quieter benefit is as an entry point. A one-time purchase removes the commitment objection entirely, and a customer who has already received one box and liked it is a far warmer prospect for a subscription than a first-time visitor reading a product page.
Curobi supports one-time box mode alongside curated and build-your-own boxes on the Pro plan, so the same box can be sold either way without building the product twice.
